Title: Poured Abstraction in Black, Red, and Yellow on Kraft Paper Technique: Gouache on paper Measures: 11 x 8 inches (27.9 x 20.3 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in generally good visual condition based on the photographs supplied, with glossy, saturated black, red, and yellow paint standing slightly raised from the surface. The tan kraft-type paper shows fine, even texture and light overall toning consistent with age. No significant tears, losses, or creases are apparent in the available images. Minor surface irregularities and light handling marks may be present. Presented in a bronze-toned frame with a stepped profile and a gilt inner lip, showing minor surface wear. Not examined out of the frame. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Private Colelction Visual Description: A dynamic vertical abstraction in which poured and dripped paint spreads across a warm tan kraft paper ground, leaving generous margins of bare sheet around the central composition. Heavy black skeins form the backbone of the image, ranging from thick, pooled masses at the top and center to thin, whiplike lines, drips, and scattered droplets that branch out toward the edges. A bold, irregular field of bright vermilion red spreads across the left center, threaded with fine red lines that continue down through the middle of the composition. Along the right side, looping ribbons of lemon yellow rise and curve in open, airy arcs, echoed by a few thinner yellow loops at lower left. The three colors overlap and interlock, the black lines crossing over and under the red and yellow passages to create a layered, rhythmic web. Small spatters and dots punctuate the surrounding paper, emphasizing the gestural speed of the application. The poured, dripped technique, the absence of a single focal point, and the emphasis on movement and process reflect the visual language of Abstract Expressionism and its gestural, action-based tendencies. The lower left bears a painted inscription reading "Jackson Pollock." This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
