Title: Biomorphic Figures, Stars, and Celestial Signs in Black Ink Technique: Ink on paper Measures: 11.5 x 8 inches (29.2 x 20.3 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in generally good visual condition based on the photographs supplied, with crisp, dark ink lines and dense hatched passages. The tan paper shows light, even toning, a faint circular stain at lower left, and minor scattered marks consistent with age and handling. No significant tears, losses, or creases are apparent in the available images. Minor surface irregularities may be present. Presented in a gold-toned frame with a brushed, linear finish, showing minor surface wear. Not examined out of the frame. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Private Colelction Visual Description: A lively black ink drawing on a warm tan sheet, populated by a cluster of fantastical, interlocking figures and floating signs. At the center, a tall, stacked creature is built from rounded, irregular forms: an upper head with two concentric eyes and a zigzag mouth, a smaller profile face with lashes and a dark open mouth at left, and a large, swelling body below marked with a central eye, dense crosshatching, and a small star, all balanced on two thin stick legs that stride toward the lower left. At right, a tall bean-shaped head with two heavily shaded, staring eyes and long lashes leans in, above a small mask-like face with stylized features at lower right. A thick black squiggle and two solid ovals cap a slender spire at upper right, beside a zigzag line ending in dots. Around the figures float a pointed four-armed star, several asterisk-like stars, a crescent moon, a hatched sphere, and a small dangling triangle on thin lines. The contrast between fine, wandering contour lines and solid black masses gives the drawing rhythm and playful energy. The biomorphic figures, pictographic stars, and spontaneous, calligraphic line reflect the visual language of Surrealist abstraction. The lower right bears an ink inscription reading "Miró." This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
