Title: Tree-Lined Riverbank Path with Figures and a White House Technique: Watercolor on paper Measures: 9 x 12 inches (22.9 x 30.5 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in generally good visual condition based on the photographs supplied, with fresh coloration and a lively, textured surface of short, raised strokes and dabs throughout. No significant tears, losses, or creases are apparent in the available images. Minor surface irregularities, light handling marks, and age-related wear may be present. Presented in a gold-toned frame with a stepped, rounded profile and a mottled finish, showing minor surface wear. Not examined out of the frame. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Gifted privately from the private collection of the Larsson family in Malmö to a nephew in Stockholm. Visual Description: A tranquil river landscape in horizontal format, viewed from a shaded path that curves along the left bank. A row of slender trees with reddish-brown trunks leans over the path, their arching branches and dappled green, olive, and yellow foliage forming a canopy across the top of the composition against a soft blue sky. The path itself is rendered in warm terracotta, rose, salmon, and cream dabs that suggest sunlight filtering through the leaves. Two small figures animate the scene: a woman in a white blouse and red skirt walking beneath the trees at far left, and a seated figure in blue resting on the grassy bank at the water's edge. The river occupies the right half of the canvas, its surface painted in emerald, jade, and turquoise and broken by scattered flecks of white that catch the light. On the far bank, a white house with a red roof sits among lush, rounded trees in lime, sap green, and yellow-green, above a strip of reeds and a band of blue-gray along the shoreline, while ochre fields rise on the distant hillside. The broken brushwork, the attention to light on water and foliage, and the quiet rural subject reflect the visual language of Impressionist landscape painting. The lower right bears a painted inscription reading "C. Pissarro." This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
