Title: Figure with Outstretched Arms Holding Two Dangling Figures Technique: Gouache on paper Measures: 12 x 9 inches (30.5 x 22.9 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in fair to good visual condition based on the photographs supplied, with dense, even black and crisp white linework in the painted image. The cream paper margins show overall toning, scattered small spots, and diagonal brown lines of discoloration at the upper left and lower left corners, consistent with residue from old adhesive or mounting tape. No significant tears or losses are apparent in the available images. Minor surface irregularities and light handling marks may be present. Presented in a bronze-toned frame with a brushed, linear finish, showing minor surface wear. Not examined out of the frame. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Moved by private sale from the private collection of the Almeida family in São Paulo to the private collection of the Pereira family in Recife. Visual Description: A bold, graphic image centered on a cream sheet, contained within a square field of solid black framed by a white border line. At the center, a tall, simplified figure with a round head stands with arms stretched horizontally across the width of the composition, its body outlined in thick white contour lines and marked at the chest with a red X. From each outstretched hand dangles a smaller figure, held by one arm, their bodies swinging below as if lifted or suspended. Short radiating dashes surround the hands and the hanging figures, a characteristic device that suggests motion, vibration, or energy. Along the bottom of the black field, a band of white oval dashes forms a patterned ground beneath the central figure's feet. The stark contrast of black and white, the single accent of red, and the economy of the outlined, cartoon-like figures give the image the immediacy of a sign or pictogram. The flat, graffiti-derived drawing style, the radiating motion lines, and the symbolic, open-ended narrative reflect the visual language of 1980s Pop and street art. The lower right of the sheet bears an ink inscription reading "K. Haring," followed by a circled cross symbol. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
