Title: Sailboat on a River at Sunset Technique: Oil on canvas Measures: 20 x 16 inches (50.8 x 40.6 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in generally good overall condition based on the photographs supplied, with vibrant coloration, pronounced brushwork, and visible variations in paint thickness. Minor surface irregularities and age-related wear may be present. Presented in a broad gold-toned frame with decorative beading and areas of visible finish wear. The reverse shows a canvas support mounted on a dark wooden stretcher, with minor discoloration and scattered paint marks on the wood. Not examined out of the frame. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Passed by family gift from the private collection of the Nolan family of Galway to a niece in Dublin. Visual Description: A small sailboat carrying a seated figure occupies the center of a tranquil river landscape at sunset. Two triangular sails rise against a luminous sky composed of layered blue, turquoise, yellow, and orange brushstrokes. The surrounding water reflects the warm evening light in broken passages of gold, blue, and coral, while dark blue-green trees define the distant riverbanks. Short, textured strokes create movement across the sky and water, evoking the atmospheric qualities of Impressionist landscape painting. A painted inscription reading "Claude Monet" appears in the lower right corner. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
