Title: Covered Wooden Bridge and Tower with Three Swans Beneath the Mountains Technique: Oil on canvas Measures: 29 x 21 inches (73.7 x 53.3 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in generally good visual condition based on the photographs supplied, with vivid coloration and densely applied, textured brushwork composed of short dabs and strokes across the entire surface. No significant paint losses or tears are apparent in the available images. Minor surface irregularities, light handling marks, and age-related wear may be present. Presented in a wide, deeply carved gilt frame with repeating sculpted scroll and rosette ornament, showing variations in the gilded finish and darker toning within the recesses. Not examined out of the frame. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Private Colelction Visual Description: A lakeside town scene in vertical format, dominated by a long covered wooden footbridge that runs diagonally from the left edge into the middle distance. Its sloping roof is painted in warm ochre, amber, and orange, supported by a rhythmic row of posts, and its railings overflow with window boxes of red, pink, and coral flowers. At upper left, a tall stone tower with a steep red-brown pyramidal roof rises beside the bridge. Behind it, a row of cream and yellow houses with red roofs lines the far shore, set against a forested mountain in emerald, olive, and lime that climbs to two peaks touched with violet, lavender, and pink. The sky is built from small dabs of pale yellow, aqua, and sky blue. The lower half of the canvas is given over to the water, where broken strokes of cobalt, ultramarine, turquoise, gold, and red reflect the bridge, flowers, and buildings in shimmering fragments. In the foreground, three white swans glide across the surface, their curving necks and feathered wings picked out in thick white and pale blue. The broken, mosaic-like brushwork and the emphasis on light and reflection on water reflect the visual language of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist painting. The lower left bears a painted inscription reading "Claude Monet." This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
