Title: Sunflower Field with Rustic Fence and Farmhouse Beneath a Swirling Sky Technique: Oil on canvas Measures: 21 x 29 inches (53.3 x 73.7 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in generally good visual condition based on the photographs supplied, with vivid coloration and thick, sculptural impasto, particularly in the sunflowers, sky, and cypress. No significant paint losses or tears are apparent in the available images. Minor surface irregularities, light handling marks, and age-related wear may be present. Presented in a wide, deeply carved gilt frame with repeating sculpted scroll ornament, showing variations in the gilded finish and darker toning within the recesses. Not examined out of the frame. Provenance: Private Colelction Visual Description: A vibrant horizontal landscape in which a field of sunflowers stretches across the lower half of the canvas, bordered in the foreground by a weathered split-rail fence that runs diagonally from left to right. The sunflowers are painted in thick strokes of lemon and golden yellow petals around rounded crimson and scarlet centers, receding into a dense band of smaller red, orange, and yellow blooms toward the horizon. A cluster of larger sunflowers fills the lower right corner beside the fence. In the middle ground, a tall flame-shaped cypress in green, lime, and olive rises at center, beside a farmhouse with violet walls and steep roofs striped in ochre, orange, and red, its chimney reaching into the sky. Behind, a ridge of blue and slate mountains is edged by rounded green shrubs. The upper third of the composition is dominated by a dramatic sky of cobalt, cerulean, and white swept into great coiling spirals, punctuated by glowing yellow orbs ringed in white and gold, with a larger radiant sun at upper right. The swirling, rhythmic brushwork, dark contours, and the strong contrast of yellow against blue reflect the visual language of Post-Impressionist landscape painting. The lower right bears a painted inscription reading "Vincent." This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
