Title: Constellation of Stars, Birds, and Biomorphic Forms on an Ochre Ground Technique: Gouache on paper Measures: 11 x 10 inches (27.9 x 25.4 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in generally good visual condition based on the photographs supplied, with bright coloration in the painted shapes and crisp black linework. The paper shows soft tide lines and mottled variations of tone within the ochre and green washes, along with a fine crinkled texture in the more heavily painted black and red areas. No significant tears or losses are apparent in the available images. Minor surface irregularities, light handling marks, and age-related wear may be present. Presented in a bronze-toned frame with a mottled, burnished finish and a gilt inner lip, showing minor surface wear. Not examined out of the frame. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Private Colelction Visual Description: A lively, densely populated composition in vertical format, set against a warm ground of washed ochre, honey yellow, and cream that drifts into soft patches of mint and spring green at upper and middle right. Across the sheet float an array of playful biomorphic forms outlined in black. At upper left, a black disc capped by a red and olive crescent is framed by curved motion lines; at upper right, a kite-like shape divided into red and sky-blue quadrants hovers beside a large black oval. Below, a stick-legged figure with a red pointed head holds a pale panel with yellow and red ovals, while a large green and black form encloses a yellow eye with a black pupil. At lower center, a bold black star overlaps a red disc, and at lower right a large circle split into red and black is crossed by a zigzag line and spindly antennae. Small black dots, asterisk-like stars, a pale blue target, a white bulb-shaped form, and linear stick figures are scattered throughout, giving the surface a buoyant, musical rhythm. The pictographic signs, primary-color accents, and dreamlike, weightless arrangement reflect the visual language of Surrealist abstraction. The lower left bears a painted inscription reading "Miró." This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
