Title: Golden Wheat Field with Cypresses and Figures Beneath a Blue Sky Technique: Oil on canvas Measures: 15 x 23 inches (38.1 x 58.4 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in generally good visual condition based on the photographs supplied, with vivid coloration and densely worked, raised brushwork applied in short, directional strokes across the entire surface. No significant paint losses or tears are apparent in the available images. Minor surface irregularities, light handling marks, and age-related wear may be present. Presented in an ornate gilt frame with molded scrolling foliate ornament and a beaded inner border, showing minor surface wear. Not examined out of the frame. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Private Colelction Visual Description: A sunlit rural landscape in horizontal format, divided into two broad zones: a golden field below and a band of trees against a vivid sky above. The lower half is filled with tall wheat or grasses rendered in thousands of short, vertical strokes of lemon yellow, golden ochre, amber, and touches of green, giving the field a shimmering, wind-stirred texture. Three small figures, seen only from the shoulders up, wade through the grain in the middle of the field. Behind them, a dark green hedge runs across the width of the canvas, and above it rises a varied row of trees: a dense, rounded mass of foliage at left, slender flame-like cypresses, a tree with a perfectly round crown, and a tall, narrow cypress standing alone at right. Between the trees, glimpses of a pale building and a sunlit hillside in salmon, ochre, and cream, dotted with small trees, open the view into the distance. The sky is a saturated cobalt and cerulean animated by small, comma-like dashes of white and pale blue. The rhythmic, textured brushwork and the strong contrast of yellow against blue reflect the visual language of Post-Impressionist landscape painting. The lower right bears a painted inscription, possibly reading "Vincent," that is not fully legible in the photographs. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
