Title: Poured Abstraction in Navy, White, and Red on Golden Yellow Technique: Oil on masonite Measures: 31 x 23 inches (78.7 x 58.4 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in generally good visual condition based on the photographs supplied, with vivid, saturated coloration and densely layered, glossy skeins, pools, and droplets of paint standing in relief across the surface. A fine, regular texture is visible through the yellow ground. No significant paint losses or cracks are apparent in the available images. Minor surface irregularities, light handling marks, and age-related wear may be present. Presented in a black frame, showing minor surface wear. Not examined out of the frame. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Acquired by the private collection of the Patel family in Ahmedabad from the private collection of the Mehta family in Mumbai. Visual Description: A vertical, all-over abstraction in which an intricate web of poured and spattered paint covers a ground of warm golden and marigold yellow from edge to edge. Dense skeins of deep navy and near-black dominate the composition, ranging from thin, whiplike filaments to heavy, pooled blots and spattered clusters. Interwoven with them are bright ribbons and splashes of white, which flare across the center and upper right and lend the surface a sense of light and speed. Scarlet red threads and patches appear throughout, particularly along the left edge and in the upper center, while lines of olive and mustard green add a quieter middle tone. Cobalt blue accents weave through the darker passages, creating subtle shifts of color within the tangle. The density of marks builds toward the center and upper half of the board, where the layers overlap most heavily, and opens slightly toward the edges, allowing more of the yellow ground to glow through. The absence of a single focal point, the rhythmic interlacing of line and color, and the evident physicality of the dripped and flung paint reflect the visual language of Abstract Expressionism and its gestural, action-based tendencies. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
