Title: Seated Woman with Flowing Hair Before a Floral Wallpaper Technique: Gouache on paper Measures: 10 x 8 inches (25.4 x 20.3 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in generally good visual condition based on the photographs supplied, with rich, layered coloration and a finely textured, almost woven-looking surface throughout the painted areas. No significant losses, tears, or creases are apparent in the available images. Minor surface irregularities, light handling marks, and age-related wear may be present. Presented in a wooden frame with a glossy reddish-brown burl-effect finish and a black stepped inner molding, showing minor surface wear. Not examined out of the frame. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Private Colelction Visual Description: A half-length portrait of a seated woman, shown frontally in an armchair against a warm beige background patterned with delicate pink and white floral sprigs, stems, and star-shaped blossoms. Her face is divided into two planes: a teal-green profile turned to the left and a warm tan frontal view, each with its own green eye, the right one ringed by a small golden starburst, and a single pair of pink lips shared between them. Long hair falls in sweeping, outlined locks of olive, mustard, cobalt, sky blue, slate gray, and black, framing the face and spilling over both shoulders. The chair back behind her is painted in burnt orange and terracotta overlaid with a network of golden yellow triangles and zigzags, its black frame curving around the figure. Her torso is built from flat, curving shapes in crimson, salmon pink, white, golden yellow, and navy, with concentric arcs that suggest the folds of a garment or the curve of the chest. Bold black contours define every form, setting the figure apart from the lighter decorative ground. The dual-view face, the flattened, patterned space, and the outlined planes of color reflect the visual language of twentieth-century Cubist and post-Cubist portraiture. The lower right bears a painted inscription reading "Picasso." This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
