Title: Sunflower Field with Twin Cypresses and a Rushing Stream Technique: Oil on canvas Measures: 21 x 26 inches (53.3 x 66.0 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in generally good visual condition based on the photographs supplied, with vivid coloration and heavy, sculptural impasto, particularly in the sunflowers, cypresses, and sky. No significant paint losses or tears are apparent in the available images. Minor surface irregularities, light handling marks, and age-related wear may be present. Presented in a gilt wooden frame with a stepped molding, showing scattered chips, scuffs, and wear to the gilded finish, most visibly along the outer edges. Not examined out of the frame. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Private Colelction Visual Description: A sunlit horizontal landscape in which a dense field of sunflowers fills the foreground, their broad heads rendered in thick strokes of golden yellow, marigold, and amber around dark brown and umber centers, set among deep green leaves. Two tall, flame-like cypress trees rise from behind the flowers at left of center, painted in twisting strokes of forest green, black-green, and olive that echo the movement of the sky. To the right, a stream tumbles over purple-gray rocks in a burst of white and pale blue foam and spreads into a calm, light-reflecting pool in cream, lavender, and sky blue. Beyond, the middle ground opens onto a band of yellow and ochre fields, bordered by rolling green hills and a distant ridge of blue and violet mountains. The sky above is animated by long, wave-like bands of cobalt, cerulean, turquoise, white, and pale yellow, swept across the canvas in rhythmic, swirling strokes. The textured, directional brushwork, the strong contrast of yellow against blue, and the energized treatment of natural forms reflect the visual language of Post-Impressionist landscape painting. The lower right bears a painted inscription reading "Vincent." This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
