Title: Linear Profile of a Woman with Red, Yellow, and Blue Forms Technique: Watercolor on paper Measures: 11.5 x 9 inches (29.2 x 22.9 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in generally good visual condition based on the photographs supplied, with clear color in the painted shapes and confident black linework. The cream paper shows light overall toning, scattered small spots, and minor soiling, more visible toward the edges, consistent with age and handling. No significant tears, losses, or creases are apparent in the available images. Minor surface irregularities may be present. Presented in a honey-toned oak wooden frame, showing minor surface wear. Not examined out of the frame. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Transferred by personal arrangement within the private collection of the Andersen family of Copenhagen to a child living in Aarhus. Visual Description: A spare, lyrical figure study on a warm cream sheet, built almost entirely from a few continuous black brush lines. A woman's head is shown in profile facing left, its contour flowing from the crown down through the brow, a pointed nose with two dot-like nostrils, softly parted lips, and a rounded chin, before sweeping into the curve of the neck and shoulder. A second long arc rises from the lower right and loops over the top of the sheet, enclosing the head in a loose oval, while another line descends from the upper center to suggest hair or the far side of the face. Three flat, organic color shapes punctuate the composition: a crimson kidney shape at upper left and a pale sky-blue one at right, each marked with a curved black line and short radiating strokes that read as closed eyes with lashes, and a soft golden-yellow oval at upper right that suggests a sun or ornament. The generous areas of bare paper, the economy of line, and the placement of the primary colors create a balanced, airy rhythm. The fluid single-line drawing and the playful displacement of facial features reflect the visual language of twentieth-century modernist figuration. The lower right bears a painted inscription reading "Picasso." This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
