An antique wooden rotary box butter churn, constructed from pine or a similar utility wood. The object features a rectangular box body with a semi-circular base, supported by four splayed wooden legs arranged in A-frame supports at each end. The churn is fitted with a removable recessed lid that includes a hand-carved bridge-style wooden handle. A wrought iron hand crank with a turned wooden grip is mounted to the side, which operates an internal wooden paddle mechanism designed for agitating cream. The upper corners of the box are reinforced with simple metal brackets. The exterior wood surface exhibits a dark patina characteristic of historical domestic dairy equipment. Width approx. 14.5 inches Height approx. 14 inches Depth approx. 11.75 inches (Measurements taken from a visible tape measure). Condition: Fair antique condition. The piece displays significant age-related wear, including surface scuffs, drying, and minor cracking to the timber. Metal components show surface oxidation and rust. The internal wooden paddle mechanism appears to be complete and remains inside the box. The crank mechanism remains functional.
