Vetter in Wien Verge Fusee. Crafted in Vienna, Austria by maker Leopold Vetter during the late 18th century (c. 1780s–1790s), this exceptional musical instrument-form pocket watch is housed in a mandolin-shaped case featuring royal blue paillonné enamel, mother-of-pearl paneling, and intact wire strings across its front bridge. Measuring approximately 2.75 inches long by 1.25 inches wide, the hinged case opens to reveal an engine-turned silver dial with Roman numerals and a hand-engraved gilt-brass verge fusee movement signed "Leopold Vetter in Wien" and numbered "2073." Coveted by museum-level collectors as a pinnacle of Viennese horological artistry, the piece features a structurally complete, untested movement with a clean balance cock and a secure case clasp, presenting in delicate 18th-century condition with expected age-appropriate wear, light mother-of-pearl discoloration, and chipping or hairline fractures along the cobalt enamel rim.
