Amber Glass Cabochon Fossil Inclusion. This striking original late 19th-century Victorian sash or garment button features an ornate, stamped brass frame with a detailed scrollwork motif surrounding a large, faceted amber-colored glass or resin cabochon containing an intriguing dark organic inclusion. Dating to the late Victorian to Edwardian era (c. 1890s–1910s), antique metal and jewel-set buttons carry high collector appeal among antique button society members, fashion historians, and oddities collectors. Unbranded/maker unknown, c. 1890s–1910s, stamped brass with dark patinated accents, faceted amber glass/resin center, black-enameled back with self-shank, unmarked, measures approximately 1.25 inches (32 mm) in diameter. Shows expected signs of age including surface wear and loss to the black enamel backing, heavy patina on the brass casing, and minor internal crazing or fractures within the stone/glass setting, though the inclusion remains clearly visible and the shank is intact; no major breaks or structural repairs observed.
