Capodimonte Porcelain Lidded Box with Classical Figural Decoration. Dimensions: 4 H x 8.75 W x 6 D inches. Finely crafted Italian Capodimonte porcelain lidded decorative box of oval form, raised on four molded feet and richly embellished with applied relief decoration. The domed cover features a classical pastoral scene rendered in high relief depicting cherubic and mythological-style figures gathered within a landscape beneath a tree, highlighted against a gilt ground. The body is adorned with molded floral swags suspended from expressive mascaron and foliate mounts, with hand-painted accents and extensive gilt trim throughout. The piece exhibits the characteristic artistry associated with Capodimonte porcelain, combining sculptural relief work, intricate detailing, and hand-finished decoration. The underside bears the printed Capodimonte crown-and-N mark, Made in Italy, indicating production in the second half of the 20th century. Suitable as a decorative box, jewelry casket, or cabinet display piece. Late 20th century, circa 1960–1980. Condition: Very good estate condition overall. Age-related surface wear, light rubbing to gilt decoration, craquelure to the gilt ground of the lid, and minor manufacturing imperfections consistent with production are present. No significant chips, cracks, or repairs. This auction house considers the photographs to be the condition report. Provenance: From the estate of a distinguished Georgia physician, whose collection of fine art, antiques, jewelry, and decorative objects was carefully assembled over a period of decades.
