RCBS Case Trimmer Collet No 3 and 30 Cal Pilot

An RCBS case trimmer collet, No. 3, part number 09373, in its green RCBS box, together with a case trimmer pilot stamped 30 for the .308 inch bore. An old C R Specialty price sticker of $4.00 is on the box. The collet is the part that grips the case head in an RCBS trimmer, and the number three size covers a large family of cartridges including the magnum belted heads. The pilot is the part that centers in the case mouth so the cut is square to the neck. Trimming matters more than new handloaders expect. Brass grows every time it is fired and sized, and a case that is too long gets pinched in the chamber throat at the mouth, which spikes pressure. Having the right collet and the right pilot on hand is what keeps a trimmer working when you change cartridges. Dies are clean with light surface oil and normal handling marks, threads and lock rings are intact and no rust or galling is visible in the photos. Condition is very good.
