Traditional Diné (Navajo) pottery jar by Rose Williams (1915–2015), an influential matriarch of contemporary Navajo pottery. This distinctive vessel features a rounded, slightly tapered form with two sculptural loop handles, each terminating in curled ends, and a raised biyo’ appliqué band encircling the vessel below the rim. The warm reddish-brown surface displays smoky black fire-cloud coloration and a lustrous piñon-pitch finish characteristic of traditional Navajo pottery. Measures approximately 7.5" tall, 6.25" at its widest point, with a 4" diameter opening. The underside is signed “RW.” Handmade surface texture, firing variations, rubbing, scratches, and other signs of age and handling are present. A particularly decorative signed example of Rose Williams pottery with an unusual handled form. See photos for details and condition.
