Pair of hand-carved and hand-painted wooden Southwestern Pueblo-style figures featuring distinctive ceremonial-inspired designs. The first is a Mudhead-style figure, measuring approximately 6" tall x 2" wide x 2.5" deep, with a dark rounded head, projecting ears, painted facial symbols, crossed yellow neck detail, and a small metal loop at the top. The underside has faint handwritten markings that are difficult to decipher. The second figure measures approximately 6.25" tall x 3" wide x 3.5" deep and features a colorful bird-like mask with projecting beak, multicolored feather crest, yellow and red body, geometric painted clothing, and carved hands and feet. The underside shows wear and remnants of markings, but no clearly legible artist signature was identified. Both display surface wear, paint loss, scuffs, and age-related handling consistent with preowned folk art. Exact makers, ages, ceremonial identities, and tribal affiliations are unknown; cataloged conservatively as Pueblo-style Southwestern carvings. See photos for details and condition.
