Traditional Tohono O’odham coiled basketry tray/plaque featuring a shallow round form with concentric woven bands in natural cream, tan, golden brown, and dark brown/black tones. The design incorporates bold dark geometric accents around the outer portion and a decorative dark fiber lacing around the scalloped rim. Measures approximately 11.75" in diameter x 1" deep. The reverse bears a later label identifying it as “Tohono O’odham” with a $140 notation; this label appears to be a prior identification/price notation rather than an artist signature. Basket shows age and display wear with areas of fiber discoloration, variation, and some looseness/breakage visible along the weave and rim. Artist and exact age are unknown. A distinctive example of Southwestern Indigenous basketry and Tohono O’odham-style woven art. See photos for details and condition.
