A collection of nineteenth and twentieth-century printed works comprising dramatic acting editions, religious texts, and fraternal ephemera. The lot includes two mid-nineteenth-century yellow softcover acting editions published by Samuel French of New York: The Minor Drama No. LXXVI: To Paris and Back; for Five Pounds by John Madison Morton, and French's Standard Drama No. COLXVII: The Dumb Girl of Genoa; or, The Bandit Merchant by J. Farrell. Both items feature contemporary ink ownership signatures for Andrew Stark and A. B. Stark. Also present is a nineteenth-century pictorial hardcover titled Hark! The Herald Angels Sing, published by Ernest Nister of London and E. P. Dutton & Co. of New York, printed in Nuremberg, Bavaria, featuring an illustration of two children singing. Religious items include a small, thick black leather-bound volume with gilt edges and Oxford stamped to the foot of the spine, a small embossed hardcover titled The Shepherd Psalm, and a blue softcover Songs of the Gospel: Words Edition published for The United Church of Canada by Gordon V. Thompson (copyright 1953), bearing handwritten ownership inscriptions for Mrs Isabella Gray dated 1964 and 1972. Fraternal interest is represented by a green Installation pamphlet signed M. Gray and a blue booklet titled By-Laws of Cornwall Lodge A. F. & A. M. No. 125, G. R. C., Cornwall, Ontario, Canada, referencing a charter granted in 1860. Measured against a ruler: Drama pamphlets height approx. 19 cm Hark! The Herald Angels Sing height approx. 21 cm Masonic By-laws height approx. 23 cm. Condition: The collection exhibits varying degrees of age-related wear. The paper-bound dramatic editions show significant foxing, toning, edge chipping, and spine deterioration. Hardcover volumes display rubbing to the extremities and corner wear. The religious softcover and Masonic pamphlets have handling creases and minor staining. The gilt edges on the leather volume show light rubbing and the leather is dry with some surface loss to the spine. Ownership inscriptions and prices are present in pencil and ink to several covers and internal pages.
