A mechanical toy typewriter, model 200, manufactured by Louis Marx and Co. The device is constructed with a yellow and cream-coloured plastic housing and features a three-row QWERTY keyboard with tall, cylindrical white plastic keys. The machine utilizes a traditional metal type bar mechanism designed to strike a black fabric ribbon against a rotating platen. The front panel is decorated with a raised yellow and white Marx 200 logo. A yellow measurement scale is integrated into the carriage assembly. The item is accompanied by its original cardboard box, which features mid-century graphic design in green, blue, and yellow. The box includes printed manufacturing information for the Louis Marx and Co., Inc. Service Division in Girard, Pennsylvania. The original white polystyrene protective inserts are included. Width approx. 29 cm. Condition: The typewriter is in well-preserved vintage condition with minor surface dust and wear consistent with age. The plastic housing and keys appear intact, and the internal type bar mechanism is present. The fabric ribbon is installed but appears slightly loose. The original box shows significant age-related wear, including creasing, corner softening, and several handwritten notations in ballpoint pen. The polystyrene inserts remain present but exhibit minor crumbling and wear. Functional completeness has not been tested.
