This antique Victorian photograph album is bound in ornate, deeply embossed dark brown leather over thick, beveled boards. The covers are decorated with elaborate blind-stamped and gilt-detailed architectural and foliate motifs. The spine features the word Album in stylized gold leaf. The interior contains numerous heavy cardstock leaves featuring die-cut apertures for cabinet cards and carte-de-visite photographs. Several pages are further embellished with chromolithographed and printed decorative borders in floral and scrollwork patterns. The album includes various historical portraits, one of which identifies the photographer as Theo. A. Sather, 323 W. Superior S, Duluth, Minnesota. The leaves are finished with gilt edges, and the volume retains a portion of its original brass clasp hardware. Dimensions: Approx. 29 cm x 23 cm (estimated from visible tape measure in inches). Condition: Fair to good. The leather binding shows significant rubbing and scuffing, with notable leather loss at the corners and spine edges. Internal pages show age-related toning and foxing, with wear and small tears to some photo slots. The brass clasp is incomplete.
