Large Chinese Chinoiserie-style black lacquer display cabinet or vitrine, richly decorated with gilt and polychrome painted borders, floral scrollwork, geometric motifs, and elaborate figural garden scenes across the lower doors. The applied decoration appears to incorporate carved and inlaid figural and architectural elements set against the dark lacquered ground, creating a highly dimensional decorative effect. The upper section is fitted with multiple glazed doors divided into rectangular panes and opens to a mirrored interior with adjustable glass display shelves, while the lower cabinet provides additional enclosed storage with drawers and shelving. Brass-toned escutcheons and hinges complement the traditional Asian-inspired decoration throughout. The cabinet shows age and use with scattered scuffs, scratches, finish wear, small areas of paint and lacquer loss, and heavier rubbing and chipping along the lower edges and molding, particularly near the base and upper cornice. Measures 88"H x 78"W x 22"D.
