Georgian Iron-Bound Oak Travelling Liquor Chest with Six Gilt Decanters. 19th century. Iron-bound oak traveling liquor or decanter chest with carrying handle, shaped lock plate, and compartmented interior. Contains six matching square-bodied glass decanters decorated in gilt with tied floral swags and fitted with spherical stoppers. Two similarly decorated stemmed cordial or wine glasses are secured within the lid. Condition: Extensive travel and age wear, including scratches, staining, shrinkage separations, and edge losses. Upper front edge split and chipped around the hasp; iron fittings show oxidation and old repairs. Lock untested and key absent. Glass and stoppers require inspection for chips or cracks; gilding rubbed. Other lid-mounted accessories appear missing.
