French art deco marble clock and bookend garniture France, circa 1930. A three-piece Art Deco mantel or desk garniture comprising a mechanical clock and pair of matching bookends. The clock is set into a circular cream-and-russet veined marble surround on a long matching plinth with black marble accents, flanked by two gilt-spelter water birds rising from stylized foliage. The cream chapter ring has stylized Arabic numerals and blued hands. Each bookend is formed as an upright circular marble panel on a stepped rectangular base. Winding key included. Quantity: Three pieces—clock and pair of bookends. Dimensions: Not provided. Condition: Overall surface wear consistent with age, including scratches, scuffs, staining, accumulated grime, and small chips and abrasions to the marble. Gilt birds exhibit tarnish, oxidation, rubbing, and finish loss. Dial and hands show discoloration and wear. Rear movement plate has scratches, oxidation, and an applied repair-service label dated October 10, 2021. Movement winds with the accompanying key, but operation, duration, and timekeeping accuracy have not been tested or guaranteed. No maker’s mark is visible in the supplied photographs.
