Idealine Bas Relief Table Lighter in Box

Chrome-plated bas relief table lighter made by Idealine Lighters of Mount Vernon, New York, with its original box and paperwork. The four sides carry raised panels tracing the history of the telephone, dated 1878, 1900, 1919, 1940, 1944 and 1959 plus a panel labeled FUTURE, showing candlestick, wall and rotary desk telephones. The lighter is marked Idealine on the striker arm and the base is finished in brown felt with slotted screws for access to the flint and wick. The black box has a gold-toned interior and holds the printed lifetime guarantee card and a second insert describing the design. Condition is excellent and the lighter appears unused, with bright plating and crisp relief; the box shows light shelf wear and the paperwork is lightly toned. Not tested for function. Telephone-themed lighters draw two collector groups at once, tobacciana and telephone, which is where the interest in a boxed example comes from. Sold as-is.
