Vintage metal typewriter ribbon tin from Aetna Products, Inc. of Hicksville, New York, the blue printed lid reading Preferred, The Aristocrat of Typewriter Ribbons. The bottom is stamped with government supply data: federal stock number 7510-264-5995, RIBBONS TYPE. - COTTON, OFFSET REPRODUCTION, L. C. SMITH STD. and ELEC., BLACK MEDIUM, 1 EA., EXP. DATE 6/61, and contract number GS-00S-24980. Inside is one black cotton ribbon still wound on its spool in the original clear sleeve. The tin is in very good condition, the lid showing light scratching, a small spot of red paint and minor scuffing at the rim, with no dents or rust. That 6/61 date and the federal stock number mark this as government contract office stock from about 1960 rather than a retail product, which is what makes these tins collectible. Sold as-is.
