Ted Lyons Autographed Official American League Bobby Brown Major League Baseball (PSA/DNA Authenticated) (PSA/DNA Certification: AR20209). Featuring the signature of one of the greatest pitchers in Chicago White Sox history and authenticated by PSA/DNA under Certification #AR20209. Lyons signed the baseball prominently in blue ink, with PSA/DNA confirming the autograph as authentic and identifying Lyons as the signer. A lifelong member of the Chicago White Sox, Lyons spent his entire 21 season Major League career with the franchise from 1923 through 1946, interrupted only by his service in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. Known for his exceptional control, durability and devastating repertoire, Lyons accumulated 260 career victories, threw a no hitter in 1926 and became such a dependable veteran that the White Sox eventually scheduled him almost exclusively on Sundays, earning him the famous nickname "Sunday Teddy." He later served as manager of the White Sox and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1955, cementing his place among the most important figures in franchise history. Particularly significant to autograph collectors, Lyons passed away in 1986, years before the modern sports autograph and memorabilia industry reached its present scale, making authentic signed material considerably more difficult to obtain than that of many later Hall of Famers. The challenge becomes even more pronounced with signed baseballs, which provide a substantial and highly displayable period medium for his autograph and are far less readily encountered than simple cuts or documents. The Official American League Bobby Brown baseball itself dates from a later period of Lyons' life, creating an important window during which this Hall of Famer could have signed it before his death. With PSA/DNA authentication, strong Chicago White Sox significance, Hall of Fame pedigree and the inherent scarcity created by Lyons' passing nearly four decades ago, this autographed baseball represents a desirable opportunity to acquire a genuine signature from one of the foundational legends of Chicago baseball history.
