Autographed 1989 TV Sports Mailbag #9 George Kell MLB Hall Of Fame Induction 8X10 Stat Sheet (Limited Edition Of 1000). A limited edition commemorative piece celebrating the legendary third baseman's induction into Cooperstown and limited to just 1,000 examples. The display honors Kell's distinguished Major League career with classic imagery and a presentation of his career statistics, while Kell has personally signed the piece, creating a particularly appealing autograph connected directly to his Hall of Fame recognition. One of the finest third basemen of his generation, Kell played 15 Major League seasons from 1943 through 1957, starring most prominently with the Detroit Tigers while also appearing for the Philadelphia Athletics, Boston Red Sox, Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles. A remarkably consistent contact hitter, Kell finished his career with 2,054 hits, 385 doubles and a .306 lifetime batting average, earned 10 All Star selections, and famously captured the 1949 American League batting championship with a .3429 average, narrowly edging Ted Williams on the final day of the season and denying Williams a third Triple Crown. Kell batted .300 or better in nine seasons and led the American League in hits twice and doubles twice, establishing himself as one of the era's premier offensive third basemen. He was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1983 and later became equally beloved to generations of Tigers fans through his lengthy career as a Detroit television broadcaster. Kell passed away in 2009, permanently limiting the supply of authentic material signed during his lifetime. Combining a bold George Kell autograph, limited edition production of only 1,000, Hall of Fame commemorative presentation and the legacy of one of Detroit baseball's most enduring figures, this attractive piece represents a tremendous addition to any George Kell, Detroit Tigers, Hall of Fame or advanced baseball autograph collection.
