The building occupies the left foreground, surrounded by evergreens and grasses, while the composition opens dramatically toward blue water and a mountainous shoreline beneath a luminous yellow and pale-blue sky. The painting is executed with loose, confident brushwork and a pleasing palette of blue, violet, green, yellow and mauve. Areas of exposed board and energetic, abbreviated strokes give the work the immediacy of an en plein air oil sketch.
