Two paper-wrapped bank rolls of Jefferson nickels, the wrappers printed $2 NICKELS, which is 40 coins to a roll and 80 coins in all. Both rolls are machine crimped at both ends, with no end torn, unfolded or re-rolled, so they read as unopened. The four visible end coins are 2005 Westward Journey issues: three show the American Bison reverse and one shows the large-portrait obverse with Liberty in Jefferson's own script. Both designs were struck only in 2005, so the coins date themselves even though no coin date is legible; on every end coin the date field is tucked under the crimped wrapper. No mint mark can be seen on either roll, and each wrapper is hand-marked 2005 in black marker. The end coins are brilliant and fully lustrous with no wear, but the roughly 78 coins inside were never seen and cannot be confirmed. One roll shows its side seam lifted along its length, though the crimps are intact. The 2005 bison brought the buffalo back to the nickel for the first time since 1938. Estimated Value: $8 to $14. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot. Written descriptions are a guide only and may contain errors. Please review all photos before bidding.
