Oscar W. Peterson (1887-1951) Cadillac, MI c.1920-30's 7" long | .75" wide Tall and wide body for the length with a deeply carved mouth and gills. Large pellet eyes with scattered black dots around the cheek Peterson was a highly influential American folk artist renowned for his captivating fish decoys and carvings. Peterson's unique carving and painting style, which influenced numerous regional carvers, is now recognized as the "Cadillac style". His work is highly regarded and is held in numerous major private collections as well as in prestigious institutions like the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Brooklyn Museum.Condition: Mostly original with a roughly 2" by .5" rough patch on the left side that may have some in use touch up. Even paint flaking align the body with moderate paint loss to fins and underside
