Peterson (1887-1951) Cadillac, MI c.1930's 7" long | .75" wide | 1.125" tall This exact decoy was brought to market, and the world, on Antiques Roadshow in 2014 when in 2013 a lucky guest brought this trout and another perch in for evaluation. The fish was discovered by the family as they were cleaning out an old barn they owned in West Branch, MI and found this in the tackle box. We're excited to be offering it at public auction. Plump body with pellet tack eyes a boldly carved open mouth and gills. Bold paint with fairly rare white dot patterning. Peterson was a highly influential American folk artist renowned for his captivating fish decoys and carvings. Peterson's unique carving and painting style, which influenced numerous regional carvers, is now recognized as the "Cadillac style".
