Leonard "Pinch" Stoppel (1892-1949) Alexandria, MN c.1920's 6.25" long Scarcely seen purple fish decoy with floral white and red pattern as similarly seen on some of fellow Minnesota carver Leroy Howell's (1898-1988) fish, though the two carvers were separated by nearly 150 miles. Smooth body with five metal purple and floral painted fins with the tail, caudal, fin utilizing a fold of metal to hold the tail in place with a center nail in the middle. Painted eyes and gill. Single lead weight chamber in the underside.Condition: Very good and original with paint loss to mouth, slight paint loss to weight chamber, and slight paint loss wear tail connects to bodyLiterature: The Fish Decoy, Volume III by Art, Brad, and Scott Kimball pg. 113 exact decoy illustrated
