The Marine T. Wickham firm of Philadelphia produced this US Model 1816 flintlock musket, featuring an overall length of 57.5 inches. Key markings include M. T. WICKHAM PHILA on the lock with the breech and stock flat stamped SNJ indicatingthis rifle was issued to the state of New Jersey. Additionally, the stock is stamped near the toe and in front of the trigger guard with ****** BRIGADE, indicating which brigade the owner of this rifle was in. The name of the brigade isillegible, but it appears as though it could be Bergen. This military issue longarm retains its iron furniture and original flintlock configuration. Note - As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a backgroundcheck.Metal surfaces display a deep brown patina with expected age-appropriate pitting. The walnut stock remains solid with crisp inspector cartouches and bold stampings. Action has not been tested.
