U.S. Springfield Armory manufactured this Model 1842 percussion musket, a staple of American military history. Key markings include the 1854 date stamp on the lock plate tail. It features common sporterization and is missing the ramrod,yet retains its original walnut stock. Note - As an antique or black powder firearm, this item does not require a background check.Metal surfaces exhibit a deep patina and character-rich pitting from age. The stock shows honest field use with bold wood grain. The 1854 stamp remains a clear highlight of this historical piece.
