A First World War campaign medal pair awarded to Sergeant V.W. Forward of the Canadian Siberian Expeditionary Force. The pair consists of a silver British War Medal 1914-1918 and a bronze Victory Medal 1914-1919. The British War Medal features the bareheaded effigy of King George V on the obverse and St George on horseback trampling a shield and emblems of death on the reverse. The Victory Medal depicts a winged figure of Victory on the obverse and the inscription THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVILISATION 1914-1919 within a floral wreath on the reverse. Both medals are officially impressed to the rim with the service details: 249006 SJT. V. W. FORWARD. C.S.E.F. The Canadian Siberian Expeditionary Force was a contingent sent to Vladivostok during the Allied intervention in the Russian Civil War. Both medals are fitted with their original ribbons. Diameter approx. 36 mm (measured against ruler) Weight 62.30 g (measured on scale). Condition: The silver British War Medal is in good condition with a deep natural tarnish and patina. The bronze Victory Medal shows significant wear to the original gilded finish with surface pitting and areas of verdigris. The original ribbons are present but show significant age-related wear and fraying, with the Victory Medal ribbon being heavily damaged and detached at the top.
