A large footed serving bowl of cut glass construction, featuring deep-cut hobstars within diamond panels, interspersed with fan and strawberry diamond motifs. The bowl is finished with a wide silver-plated rim and a flared, weighted pedestal foot. The underside of the metal rim is stamped EPBM, indicating Electroplated Britannia Metal, alongside the hand-etched inventory number 409 1/2. Accompanying the bowl is a rectangular silver-plated and cut glass lidded serving dish, possibly for butter or sardines, presented on a matching stand. The set comprises a cast metal tray with ornate Rococo-style scroll, shell, and floral decoration; a clear glass insert with a diamond-cut band and starburst base; and a matching silver-plated lid with an embossed central cartouche and a tiered finial. The underside of the tray is stamped 4962, EPNS, indicating Electroplated Nickel Silver, and the initials G. L. above the number 79. Bowl height measured against a ruler approx. 16.5 cm Bowl diameter measured against a ruler approx. 22.8 cm. Condition: The glass components show good clarity; the bowl glass appears free of significant damage, while the serving dish insert is without visible chips or cracks. The silver plating on both items shows moderate tarnish, surface scratching, and minor wear consistent with age and use, particularly within the recessed decorative areas of the serving tray and bowl mounts.
