This lot consists of two vintage wooden boxes. The first is a rectangular wooden trophy presentation box for a marksmanship award. The lid is inset with a brass laurel wreath emblem featuring a central medallion of crossed rifles and a target. A brass plaque mounted to the front is engraved ST.C.C.C. THOMPSON PRODUCTS TROPHY RUNNER-UP 1962-63. A blue foil label to the underside reads THE TROPHY SHOP ST. CATHARINES ONT. The interior is unlined showing the natural wood grain and joinery. The second item is a musical jewellery box finished in a highly figured burl wood veneer with a polished surface. It features a brass bar handle to the front and stands on four turned wooden bun feet. The hinged lid opens to reveal an inset mirror and an interior divided into two compartments. A plastic ballerina figure is mounted to a rotating musical mechanism. The base has a metal winding key and a paper label identifying the melodies as Artist Life Waltz and Vienna Life Waltz. Trophy Box: W 14.0 cm x H 6.4 cm Musical Box: W 15.9 cm x H 8.9 cm Dimensions measured against a visible ruler. Condition: Both items show signs of wear consistent with age and use. The trophy box has surface scratches and minor indentations to the wood, with oxidation to the brass plaque and emblem. The musical box shows fine surface scratches to the polished burl finish and minor wear to the interior. The musical mechanism is functional.
