This collection comprises a group of vintage items including an Arcona optical light pointer, a writing slate, a glass inkwell, a watercolour paint set, and a wooden dominoes set. The Arcona light pointer is a German-made optical tool featuring a faceted black resin fore-section and a fluted chrome-finished metal battery compartment with a screw-top cap and sliding power switch. It is accompanied by its original buff-coloured cardboard box bearing the Arcona logo and marked Made in Germany. The writing slate is set within a thick wooden frame that has been heavily personalised with hand-carved inscriptions including the name A.B. STARKE and initials ABS. The moulded clear glass inkwell features a faceted square base and a circular lid with a diamond-quilted pattern. The St. Catharines High School Paint Box is a metal tin containing a selection of eight watercolour pans. The interior is printed with Made up by Artists Supply Co. Ltd., Toronto and lists the colours Crimson Lake, Prussian Blue, Indian Yellow, Sap Green, Orange, Black, Burnt Sienna, and Violet. The set of miniature wooden dominoes with black pips is housed in a dark-stained wooden box with a sliding lid. Approximate dimensions measured against a ruler: Paint box: W 21.5 cm Slate: W 23.5 cm Light pointer: L 17.5 cm. Condition: The light pointer shows minor surface scratching to the resin and light oxidation to the metal; the original box shows shelf wear, foxing, and minor crushing to the end flaps. The writing slate exhibits typical scuffing and staining to the surface, with significant age-related patina to the frame. The inkwell is structurally sound but contains a significant amount of dried ink residue. The paint tin shows surface wear and paint staining; watercolour cakes are used, cracked, and fragmented, with one pan currently empty. The wooden dominoes and box show minor wear from use.
