A lot consisting of two vintage household objects. The first item is a circular ceramic tile trivet mounted within a black-finished cast iron frame. The ceramic tile features a reproduction of the Currier and Ives print titled Autumn in New England Cidermaking, depicting a rural scene with a cider press, barn, figures, and livestock. The cast iron frame is designed with a scalloped border and an ornamental scrollwork handle. The reverse of the handle is cast with the word JAPAN and the frame is supported by three integrated peg feet. This item is presented with its original illustrated cardboard box, which features a red and white checkerboard design and is marked HAND MADE and CAST IRON. The second item is a utilitarian hand bell with a flared cast metal body and a turned wooden handle. The interior of the bell contains a metal clapper attached by a short metal chain. Bell height: approx. 15 cm Trivet box height: approx. 23 cm. Condition: The trivet is in good vintage condition with the ceramic tile free of visible chips or cracks. The accompanying original box is in poor condition, showing significant creasing, tears to the cardboard, and the absence of the clear plastic display window. The hand bell displays a heavy dark aged patina with areas of greenish oxidation and verdigris. The internal clapper and chain are heavily rusted. The wooden handle shows signs of age-related wear, surface grime, and weathering to the top finial.
