This lot features a collection of vintage hardcover children's books bound in pictorial boards with cloth-backed spines. The titles include Sandman Stories, Peter Rabbit Stories, and Stories About Joseph and David. The Peter Rabbit Stories volume is published by McLoughlin Bros. Inc., Springfield, Massachusetts, and bears the publisher's number 2283 on the lower front cover. The Stories About Joseph and David volume is published by Thomas Nelson and Sons. Each book features colour-printed cover art and internal black-and-white line illustrations. The collection includes a personal gift inscription handwritten in ink on a front endpaper which reads: from mrs bonn to Sam week love and Best wishes... Christmas 1939. This endpaper also contains various child's pencil sketches and the name Fletcher written in pencil. Dimensions (measured against a visible ruler): H approx. 28.9 cm x W approx. 21.6 cm. Condition: The books are in fair to poor condition. The bindings are failing with several loose or detached pages and visible tearing to the cloth spines. The pictorial boards show significant shelf wear, including bumped, frayed, and worn corners with the internal boards exposed. Internally, the pages exhibit widespread foxing and heavy, mottled dark staining consistent with mildew damage, particularly concentrated along the page gutters. Child's pencil scribbles and drawings are present on several pages.
