One three-piece mid-20th-century novelty tea service in the style of British seaside potteries such as Carlton Ware or Shorter and Son. The service is comprised of a teapot with cover, a twin-handled sugar bowl, and a cream jug. Each piece is crafted from glazed earthenware in a stylized leaf-form with fluted, scalloped bodies and handles moulded into leaf shapes. The teapot lid is topped with a corresponding leaf-form finial. The set is finished in a pale green glaze and features hand-painted aquatic scenes depicting angelfish swimmer amongst stylized black seaweed. All pieces are set on four-footed pedestal bases with unglazed foot rims. Dimensions: Teapot H approx. 16.5 cm (measured against a ruler). Condition: The service displays signs of age-related wear. There is a small chip to the glaze on the rim of the teapot and surface scuffing to the shoulder. One foot of the teapot shows a small surface flake or glaze skip. The service exhibits minor glaze flecks and light surface wear consistent with age and use. The sugar container is missing the lid.
