A Melba Bone China teacup and saucer set, produced in England. The set is fashioned in an octagonal, faceted Art Deco form and decorated in the Lilac Time pattern. The decoration comprises sprays of purple lilac clusters interspersed with yellow and pink five-petalled flowers and green foliage. Both the cup and saucer are finished with hand-painted green line rims. The teacup features a distinctive handle moulded into a stem form, terminating in a three-dimensional, hand-painted pink flower at the thumb rest with an orange centre. The bases of both pieces bear the Melba Bone China mark in green, featuring a crown above the words MELBA BONE CHINA GUARANTEED MADE IN ENGLAND, and the registration number 778351. The pattern name LILAC TIME is printed in blue. The cup base additionally includes the hand-painted pattern number 3787 and an H mark in green enamel. Condition: The set is in good vintage condition. The floral decoration and green lining remain bright. There are no visible chips, cracks, or repairs. The foot rim of the cup shows some light staining consistent with age and use.
