A circular porcelain trinket box produced by the Graf von Henneberg factory in Ilmenau, Germany. The box features a pale blue ground with a hinged lid. Centred on the lid is a circular reserve depicting a hand-painted scene of a courting couple in 18th-century attire within a pastoral landscape, enclosed by a gilded band. The lid and body are further decorated with scattered polychrome floral sprigs, including roses and forget-me-nots. Similar floral motifs are found on the interior base of the bowl. The piece is fitted with chased gilt-metal foliate mounts and a matching hinge. The interior of the lid contains an inset circular mirror. The underside of the base bears a green printed factory mark consisting of a crown over ILMENAU, a ribbon scroll reading Graf von Henneberg-Porzellan surrounding a shield depicting a bird on a mount and the date 1777, with Germany below in gothic script. Dimensions measured from a visible ruler: Height approx. 5.7 cm. Condition: The porcelain is in good condition, free of visible chips, cracks, or professional restoration. There is minor surface wear and light rubbing to the gilding on the metal mounts consistent with age. The interior mirror shows significant deterioration, with heavy foxing and loss of silvering around the perimeter.
