L.P. Bennit, Hand-Coloured Photograph

Attributed to L.P. Bennit, this hand-coloured photograph depicts a rustic stone and timber outbuilding with a green roof, set amongst trees with vibrant red and yellow autumnal foliage. The composition includes a weathered wooden fence to the left and a shaded road in the foreground. The work is presented in a period composite frame featuring a deep gold-painted inner slip and marbled green and brown outer moulding. A nameplate at the lower centre of the frame is inscribed L.P. BENNIT. The reverse is sealed with brown paper and includes a hanging wire. Dimensions (frame): approx. 26.7 cm x 33.7 cm measured against a tape measure. Condition: The interior of the glass and the image surface show extensive white spotting and haziness consistent with mold or foxing. The metal nameplate has scattered oxidation spots. The frame has minor surface wear and small finish losses. The paper backing on the reverse is heavily moisture-stained and foxed.
