A hand-coloured etching by the artist Pierre, titled The Stone Bridge and inscribed in pencil to the lower margin as Pont du Preu. The work depicts a picturesque rural scene featuring a stone arch bridge crossing a stream, flanked by thatched cottages and a prominent gnarled tree in the foreground. The print displays a distinct rectangular plate mark and is signed Pierre in pencil to the lower right margin. The lower left margin is inscribed with the number 312 and the title, alongside a circular monogram containing the letters S, Z, and L, identifying the publisher as Sidney Z. Lucas for the Paris Etching Society. A label attached to the reverse paper backing confirms the title and artist, further noting that the work was distributed by Turner (New York, Chicago, Los Angeles). The etching is housed in a double mount and a gilded wooden frame with a beaded inner edge. Dimensions (measured against a ruler): Frame H 15.5 inches x W 18.25 inches (approx. 39.4 cm x 46.4 cm). Condition: The paper displays significant toning and scattered foxing across the image area and the surrounding mount. The gilded frame shows minor surface wear and some losses to the finish. The brown paper backing to the reverse is aged and exhibits several tears.
