This work, titled Veyres, France, is a colour etching and aquatint by the artist Pierre, published by the Paris Etching Society and distributed by Turner. The composition depicts a picturesque rural landscape featuring a watermill positioned beside a weir and small cottages with terracotta-tiled roofs, set against a backdrop of tall trees and foliage. The print displays distinct plate marks and is hand-signed Pierre in pencil to the lower right margin. The title Veyres is inscribed in pencil to the lower left, accompanied by the number 303 and a circular publisher mark for Sidney Z. Lucas containing the letters SZL. An original distributor label is affixed to the reverse, confirming the title and attribution to the Paris Etching Society. The piece is presented in a double-mount and a gilded wooden frame with a beaded inner border. Measurements (read from a visible tape measure): Frame: H approx. 39.5 cm x W approx. 44.5 cm Image (within mat): H approx. 23.5 cm x W approx. 29 cm. Condition: The paper exhibits overall toning and scattered light foxing consistent with age. The impression remains clear with visible ink texture. The gilded frame is in generally good condition with minor surface wear. The brown paper backing on the reverse is brittle and shows significant tears.
